Immortals of Aveum, the highly anticipated fantasy shooter from Ascendant Studios, has just revealed even more gameplay with a new Deep Dive video. The deep dive breaks down important lore, characters, key spell types and more.
Immortals of Aveum is slated to launch on July 20th, 2023, for PC, PlayStation and Xbox. You can watch the full Deep Dive gameplay video on the Immortals of Aveum YouTube channel here:
Immortals of Aveum has already revealed quite a lot in just the last couple of weeks, including the reveal trailer and extensive first look gameplay. But it turns out that key gameplay was actually revealed with the heads-up display turned off. Today’s deep dive explained that players will have a traditional shooter HUD to keep track of each status.
There are three specific classes of magic that represent typical close-quarters, long-range, and automatic style weaponry. You’ll need to approach enemy confrontations based on their weaknesses, which could potentially disrupt the intended freedom to find your own preferred loadouts. However, players at least have access to augments and a deep progression system.
It really seems like Immortals of Aveum has taken the blending of fantasy and shooter very literally. There will be RPG looting and crafting, but the spells feel similar to hero shooter abilities, designed with arena tactics in mind.
The game should certainly be a fun novelty, but it is an ambitious one. It’s still unclear if Immortals of Aveum will be able to please fans of both genres, or disappoint everyone because it didn’t select a lane.
Either way, today’s deep dive just didn’t add enough to the conversation to win over anyone who wasn’t intrigued by last week’s big reveal.
