The Egyptian God Cards are perhaps the most iconic monster cards in Yu-Gi-Oh. Introduced in the anime, the cards are portrayed as being so powerful they’re capable of divine intervention. The incredibly strong cards do make for an exciting deck, and in this guide, we’ll show you how to make a great deck built around them.
Building a God Card Deck in Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel
The Egyptian God Card deck is deceptively simple to play. The God Cards have no special summoning conditions to meet to get them on the field; All you need is 3 tributes to get them on the field. Because of that, most of this deck is built around playing low-cost monsters and getting the God Cards in your hand.
Once your God-Cards are on the field, good luck getting rid of them. All three of them have incredibly high stats, and powerful effects to compliment them.
Playing The God Card Deck
Use cards like Gravekeeper’s Spy and Ra’s Disciple to pull monsters from your deck onto the field. Scapeghost and Marshmellion also make for fantastic tribute monsters, but you want to make sure you can get your cards down without them being destroyed before you can tribute summon a god card.
Quaking Mirror Force, Raigeki and Solemn Wishes help keep you and your tribute monsters alive long enough to get your God Cards on the field. Cards like The True Name and Pot Of Duality help you get the God Cards in your hand faster. Your real game begins once you have at least one God Card summoned, so you want to get one out as fast as possible.
Summoning The Winged Dragon Of Ra can be devastating on your life points, so you want to try and use The Winged Dragon Of Ra – Sphere Form to get the dragon out without paying for it. Sphere Form is especially useful because you can use the enemy’s monsters to tribute summon it, so it’ll likely be the first god card you get on the board.
Slifer’s powerful effect and Thunderforce Attack spell can keep the enemy’s board clear, so he should be your priority normal summon. Having even one of these cards on the field can end the game, so their ability to hold the board while you summon even more can make for a frightening duel for your opponent.

That’s everything you need to make a competitive God Card deck! Check out our other Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel guides for more ways to climb the ranked ladder.
Thx for sharing. I’m currently using your deck and waiting for the final version.
Any update on this ^
Is the only way to send the winged dragon of ra phoenix to the gy by using card advance then guessing wrong with the true name? Would you approve using 3 swords of revealing lights instead of the sphere and phoenix versions of ra? I have only been able to get the sphere version to work twice and it wasn’t really that great, the phoenix version 0 times.
Frankly this decklist isn’t super optimized. Calling any god card deck competitive is a bit of a stretch in the current meta but even this one can be improved a good amount.
The first question you want to ask is, “Is this more of a themed deck, or is it more of a playable deck?” The decklist above works well as a ‘themed’ deck, where functionality is sacrificed for sticking more closely to the core theme of the deck. However, it’s labeled as ‘competitive’, so I’m going to try to make a decklist that is more so that.
The second question is “All 3 gods, or just one?” My decklist will work decently with either, but it MUCH prefers to be a Ra-only deck, since Ra has more search potential than the other two gods.
Using this list as a jumping-off point, I’ve put together a deck that, in my testing, is pretty consistent. It’s not perfect and has some tweaking before I’m gonna call it “complete”, but it’ll consistently get god cards on the field. I’ll start with the list, then go into the theory below it.
3x Scapeghost
2x hand traps OR 1x Slifer and Obelisk (I use Maxx “C” and Ash Blossom, but feel free to sub in the other 2 god cards here or anywhere else I call for a sub)
3x Ra’s Disciple
3x Reactor Slime
2x The Winged Dragon of Ra
2x The Winged Dragon of Ra – Sphere Mode
2x Guardian Slime (may change)
1x Raigeki
1x Monster Reborn (may change)
1x Terraforming
3x Card Advance
2x The True Name
3x Pot of Extravagance
3x Ancient Chant
3x Mound of the Bound Creator
2x Mystical Space Typhoon (can be changed for other backrow removal, as long as it can destroy your own cards as well)
2x Blaze Cannon (or sub 1 out for Thunderforce Attack if you have Slifer in the deck)
1x Solemn Judgement
1x Metal Reflect Slime (feel free to sub out if you want)
Extra Deck:
3x Egyptian God Slime
12x Random Link and Rank 1 or 4 Xyz monsters (just for fodder for now until I find the optimal Extra Deck setup, to help with getting more tributes on the field)
First and foremost: This deck prefers to only have Ra in it, hence why I’m running 2x Ra and 2x Sphere mode. Reason being Ra has all the non-generic search and Summon cards, so he’s the most consistent to get out. That said, you can use the other god cards in this deck if you want, but don’t be surprised if you’re mostly getting Ra out anyway. Feel free to use 1x each god and 1x Sphere Mode.
So, on to the other changes. First, the monsters. I got rid of the Gravekeeper cards. If you’re relying on a flip effect, you want to have way more Summon power than 1 extra card. This is why Scapeghost is at 3, because its flip effect Summons 4 other monsters as opposed to 1, making it much more likely that you’ll have 3 tribute fodder when your turn rolls around. I replaced the rest with Reactor Slime. Reactor Slime allows you to get 3 Summons for the price of 1, and the cost is negligible in this deck. And, since there are 6 spells in the deck that grant a second Tribute Summon in addition to the one Normal Summon per turn, it and Ra’s Disciple are quick ways to get a turn 1 god card. Guardian Slime can be Special Summoned if you take any effect or battle damage, and it can get out Egyptian God Slime easily. I nixed Marshmallon since it really didn’t help with getting a god card out, and if you’re relying on it for defense you’ve probably already lost. The Extra Deck, save for Egyptian God Slime, is just fodder for Pot of Extravagance for now. I’ll optimize it at some point, but I don’t even have the crafting mats for 3x EGS yet. Oh, and I got rid of Immortal Phoenix. It’s hard to get in the grave and frankly not worth the effort.
Now, Spells and Traps. Raigeki speaks for itself in usefulness. I’m trying to decide if Monster Reborn really is the best choice for this deck, or if it can be subbed for something like Harpie’s Feather Duster or Lightning Storm. Card Advance is useful for getting a free Tribute Summon on your turn (enabling turn 1 god cards) and can make The True Name a more consistent generic search. Pot of Extravagance basically works as 3x Pot of Greed in this deck, since it doesn’t rely on the Extra Deck very much at all. I chose to use Extravagance instead of Duality because this deck relies a lot on Special Summoning tribute fodder, and Duality locks you out of Special Summoning for a turn. Ancient Chant. Ancient. Chant. How was this card not in the original decklist at 3? It searches Ra AND gives you a free Tribute Summon AND gives Ra attack points (depending on the tributes used, be aware) so you don’t need to use your Life Points. It more than earns its place in this deck. Mound of the Bound Creator is a consistent generic search that can you can destroy yourself with cards like Mystical Space Typhoon to activate. Terraforming means that you’ll have one more often. Blaze Cannon gives Ra some much-needed protection from enemy effects, and is a quick-play to boot. A Solemn Judgement to disrupt opponent’s plays if you went first, and Metal Reflect Slime because it has synergy with Reactor Slime.
I nixed Swords of Revealing Light because it served no purpose except to stall (which, like Marshmallon, if you’re in a position where you need more than a turn to recover, you’re probably toast anyway), and Gold Sarcophagus because the extra search isn’t really necessary (MAYBE if you’re playing all 3 gods, to search Slifer and Obelisk, but even then it just feels too slow)
Quaking Mirror Force was swapped in favor of more consistency cards and more powerful disruption, and Solemn Wishes is completely dead in hand unless you’ve managed to summon Ra without using Sphere Mode or Ra’s Disciple/Ancient Chant, which makes it bricky and not worth the LP gain. Frankly, you don’t want to use Ra’s Summon effect unless you absolutely have to, and there’s enough stuff in this deck to make it so you don’t usually.
I hope when you can maximize this deck and share it. Right now i’m using the combination of the first one and yours, but its really hard to win and control the game tho
Thanks for the recommendations. I have also been trying different combinations. This is the deck I have ended up with…
Scapeghost x3
Maxx “C” x1
Marshmallon x3
Ash blossom & Joyous Spring x1
Obelisk the Tormentor x1
The Winged Dragon of Ra x1
The Winged Dragon of Ra – Sphere Mode x3
Michion, the Timelord x3
Guardian Slime x3
Raigeki x1
Harpie’s Feather Duster x1
Monster Reborn x1
Terraforming x1
Pot of Duality x2
Lightning Storm x1
Mound of the Bound Creator x2
Dimensional Fissure x2
Mystical Space Typhoon x2
Dimensional Wall x3
Quaking Mirror Force x2
Metal Reflect Slime x3
Extra deck
Egyptian God Slime x3
I have tryed to have a solution for every outcome, including Dimension Wall for Blue-Eyes Chaos MAX Dragons effect and Dimensional Fissure for going against decks that use the graveyard for most of their power.
The Michion, the Timelord cards are just fun to use, they can probably be swapped for Ra’s Disciple.
Another good card is Dark Ruler No More to negate card effects.
I think monster reborn should be compulsory u can use it with millenium spell card it allows tospecial summon all three gods no matter the summoning conditions and metal refect as well as it allows u to summon Egyptian slime God.
