Brawlhalla, the hit free-to-play fighting platformer from developer Blue Mammoth Games, has officially revealed new legend Thea’s signature moves, and other details from the next patch.

The hosts opened the preview by confirming that the new update 7.06 will roll out next Wednesday on March 29th, 2023, as expected. The new ranked season was also announced for April 12th. You can review the full patch preview on the official Brawlhalla YouTube video here:

Thea’s signature moves are an immediate hit, and an obvious highlight of today’s stream. Although they’re already considered somewhat broken, it’ll take some hands-on gameplay to be certain. However, it’s clear that Thea’s abilities are very creative, powerful ways to implement a true speedster in-game.

Thea’s charge ability has three different stages, which gives a fair amount of freedom to players about how much they dare to wait. That’s basically going to force opponents to close the distance, so it could be a very effective bait and switch tool.

Meanwhile, the neutral signature has some terrific animation that really sells Thea’s sheer speed. Letting the spear hang in the air for a moment will create some fascinating new timing skills during a match.

It’s clear that Thea has nigh unprecedented movement skills, and that’s the kind of smoothness that players enjoy in any fast-paced gameplay. Her potential for both recovery and aggression are unexpectedly strong. The devs continue to prove that their inventiveness is going to keep the Brawlhalla player count afloat.

Fans also got a look at Volleybrawl, which is a new game mode that plays very much like it sounds. The little twist is that players take damage when the ball hits the floor, which is simple but should have the charm of a mini game.
