The beloved Konami arcade classic Mystic Warriors will finally be gracing modern consoles on December 21, 2023. So tomorrow it will land on both Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 as part of the Arcade Archives series. That’s right, a last-gen console and Nintendo Switch.

Originally released in 1992 and developed by the same team behind the legendary Sunset Riders, Mystic Warriors quickly garnered a cult following for its thrilling blend of brawling action and satisfying hack-and-slash (hack-and-punch) combat. Despite its arcade-only existence, fans have long clamored for a home console port, and their patience will finally be rewarded this holiday season.

According to the tweet, it’s coming soon, and we used Google Translate to give us English words, but you can also use it on the website it links to.

In Mystic Warriors, you’ll choose from five distinct ninja warriors, each with their own unique fighting style and arsenal of throwable weapons. The story involves thwarting the nefarious plans of the shadowy Skull Enterprise, a villainous organization hellbent on world domination. Whether you prefer to slice through enemies with swift katana strikes or pepper them with a hail of shuriken, Mystic Warriors offers a satisfying combat system that rewards both precision and tactical thinking.

The game is teeming with power-ups to collect, from health-replenishing food to score-boosting items and orbs that grant temporary abilities like fire blasts or invincibility. Luckily, multiplayer is also coming, you and up to three friends can team up for some four-player cooperative mayhem, battling your way through hordes of enemies and tackling challenging boss fights together.

It’s a fun genre, and while many were probably hoping for some remaster, having the game on consoles is still a win.
