Farworld Pioneers, an upcoming open world sci-fi adventure from developer Igloosoft and publisher tinyBuild, will officially launch on May 30th, 2023. It will be available on PC via Steam, as well as both current and last-gen consoles for PlayStation and Xbox players.
Farworld Pioneers is also going to be on the Xbox Game Pass at launch. You can watch the full release date trailer on the tinyBuild YouTube channel:
Farworld Pioneers is surprisingly ambitious, as today’s trailer showcases far more than the obligatory mechanics of a sci-fi survival game.
The scope of its cooperative gameplay is really impressive, allowing up to 32 players. There will be both private and public servers for players to explore, as well as a multiplayer faction system to disrupt peaceful alliances.
The level of action in Farworld Pioneers is also somewhat unexpected. Farworld Pioneers does offer fundamental systems from other sci-fi exploration games, like mining and researching to improve your equipment and base. But today’s trailer heavily features explosive combat between human bases.
This approach is pretty unusual, and it may be more accessible for casual gamers who aren’t as thrilled by science. Despite the ability to build entire ships and discover unique environments, Farworld Pioneers seems to paint science broadly compared to the likes of No Man’s Sky or Astroneer.
Either way, players still have access to a remarkable amount of interaction with the in-game world. And it’s clear the devs put a lot of effort into their NPCs, which boast very unique behavior and roles. Overall, Farworld Pioneers has the potential to become one of the most lived-in universes, indie or otherwise. Since it’s launching on Game Pass, it should build a very successful fanbase.
