Early Access for Forever Skies, a first-person post-apocalyptic survival game, is set to launch for PC via Steam on June 22, as announced by the game’s developer, Far From Home. Future versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series are slated for release at the same time as the full game.

The Early Access version of Forever Skies will feature an expansive world ripe for exploration with a multitude of game mechanics and activities. Initially, it might not include some additional features such as cooperative play. However, the developers intend to integrate these elements swiftly post-launch. Updates aimed at expanding the game’s universe are planned, including additional modules for the airship and garden, new locations to explore, and more. The game is projected to remain in Early Access for roughly one year.

Forever Skies invites players back to a post-apocalyptic Earth devastated by an environmental catastrophe. Players commandeer a customizable, high-tech airship base, scavenging resources for survival, facing dangers on the planet’s surface, and hunting for viral pathogens to cure a mysterious illness.

An integral part of the game involves building and customizing the player’s airship. This flying fortress serves as a home, workshop, laboratory, and more, allowing players to navigate over Earth’s devastated surface, towards the remnants of human civilization and unexplained anomalies. Players must maintain the airship’s hull and integrity while harvesting resources to upgrade their flying abode.

The game also places a strong emphasis on science as a survival tool. Players will construct and operate various machines, reverse engineer lost technology from scanned items, and research novel means of obtaining food and resources. These scientific endeavors also facilitate the discovery of new tools and increase the chances of survival.

Scavenging resources from the ruins of high-altitude structures that were built to evade the dust is an essential aspect of Forever Skies. Amidst drifting debris and strange anomalies, players can transform it into raw materials necessary for survival. Exploration allows players to uncover the remnants of civilization, learn about Earth’s downfall, and uncover secrets of the past.

Descending below the dust reveals an altered world teeming with strange flora and fauna. Here, players can hunt for viral pathogens to cure a mysterious illness threatening their family.

The game takes place hundreds of years after an ecological disaster has ravaged Earth, covering its surface with a colossal layer of toxic dust. The world players are returning to is dramatically different from the one they left behind.
