Forspoken has just announced to launch of its first story downloadable content, titled ‘In Tanta We Trust,’ on May 26th for PlayStation 5 and PC.

According to Square Enix (via Gematsu),

The Forspoken “In Tanta We Trust” story downloadable content will serve as a prequel to the main game and takes place 25 years prior the events of Forspoken. Continuing her search for a way to eradicate the Break from Athia once and for all, Frey finds herself following a mysterious voice that leads her to a place that somehow transports her to the Purge of the Rheddig, the legendary battle that devastated Athia and eventually drove the Tantas to madness. Accompanied by Tanta Cinta and a new set of magical abilities, Frey must uncover the answers and save Athia once more—and attempt to save herself.

In the Forspoken “In Tanta We Trust” downloadable content, players will battle alongside Tanta Cinta using Frey’s newfound magical ability to unlock new combat strategies and coordinate devastating attack combos against the invading Rheddig forces. Scale to new heights in unique, vertically-designed environments with Frey’s honed magic-enhanced parkour skills.

Tantas are the four corrupted, magic-wielding matriarchs of Athia who serve as the main antagonists in Forspoken. Among the four Tantas, Tanta Cinta, the Tanta of Love, is the only one who did not appear in the game as a boss.

Tanta Cinta was eventually revealed to be Frey’s mother, which explains why Frey is capable of using Tanta magics. It comes out that she gave birth to Frey but left her behind when The Break took over the world. Tanta Cinta is revealed later in the game to be the dragon that players will face right as they land in Athia.

Since its release in January 2023, Forspoken has been met with a variety of reactions, with some criticizing its dated graphics and some weak plot points. But so far, some have also lauded its engaging gameplay, particularly its parkour and combat mechanics.

Developer Luminous Productions has already stated that they are dedicated to provide the best experience possible in Forspoken and will continue to include player feedback in upcoming releases. Hopefully, the forthcoming Forspoken ‘In Tanta We Trust’ Expansion will address the game’s issues and improve it further.
