Fortnite has already added two useful new features for some of the playerbase, including Social Tags and “Looking For Party” in order to help fans connect with similar players.
You can check out the news on Twitter thanks to frequent Fortnite enthusiasts Hypex and The1Jaren:
Social Tags will be a new feature that you can add to your profile in order to distinguish your unique interests and playstyle. This includes tags like “Zero Build”, “Zombies”, “Survival” and more.
After adding up all of the ideal tags, a new “Looking For Party” feature will allow players to easily find each other and party up.
This will definitely be an effective way to have smoother games, and genuinely make new friends. It can be frustrating when matchmaking groups up a load of players who don’t share similar interests or skill levels.
In fact, matchmaking is often a serious problem in other free-to-play shooters. For example, despite a completely reworked ranked system, Apex Legends has never bothered to fix matchmaking itself. So, no amount of effort with the system will truly create a fitting experience.
Now that Fortnite fans can group together by shared interest, the skill level of fellow players in any given mode will provide more balance.
However, this also makes Social Tags and partying up an absolute necessity. Once everyone can begin to stack their skills, it will unbalance the game for anyone who tries to solo queue in public matches of any category.
So, be sure to double-check when these features become available for you, and start making some new friends. Otherwise, you will likely become outnumbered and overwhelmed.
This could be frustrating for players who don’t quite have the time to socialize. But the process is easy nonetheless, and fan response has largely been positive.
