Featured Retro Bowl How To Get Coins Image

Retro Bowl is a faithful recreation of the NFL games of the old days that featured pixelated graphics, but had very fun gameplay and made for a great way to kill some time. However, this game also adds some variance to the formula by allowing you to manage your team, make trades, and draft players to construct your dream roster. While making moves to optimize your team, you will inevitably need more coins aka Coaching Credits. If you want to learn how to optimize your ability to get them, we’ll show you how in this guide.

Coaching Credits Guide

To get coins in Retro Bowl, you will need to increase your fan total and win games, visit your owner during random events, win championships, trade away draft picks, or make purchases within the game. Coaching Credits aren’t that hard to get, but they will take time to accumulate.

Fan Levels & Winning Games

The easiest way to get coins in Retro Bowl is to win games and receive an amount of them based on your fans percentage total. There are three levels that you can get to with your fans. Winning games will increase the percentage, but if you want to increase it faster then you will need to go to the Front Office and upgrade your Stadium. The higher Stadium upgrade you have the more percentage you will gain when you win. If you can maintain the percentage above the second line, you will get three credits for each win.

Once you’ve maxed out your fan percentage, it is relatively easy to keep it above the mark as long as you’re winning. You will lose percentage after each season, but as long as you don’t dip beneath the second mark you should be able to gain it back after a couple of victories.

If you’re in the early stages of building your team, you might want to put the difficulty to easy until you at least get some decent players on your roster. Otherwise, it will take you a while to build up a team.

Owner Visits

There will be times when you can opt to meet with the players and coaches for XP/Morale, or you can decide to visit the owners of the team for a Coaching Credit. It is almost always best to choose the Owners because XP and Morale are fairly easy to get. Take the coin unless your team is desperately in need of some XP.

Events can also take place that will cost you a Coaching Credit if you don’t discipline a player. The mood of the players does not come into play often, so you should always just go with the option that doesn’t require you to spend a coin.

Retro Bowl Championships

If you can make it all the way to the end of the playoffs and win the championship game you will get yourself 10 Coaching Credits! This is obviously a pretty significant amount, so try to play your best when you are in the big game.

Unused Draft Picks

At the beginning of a new season, you will get to draft players in the first, second, and third rounds. If you decide not to draft a player in a particular round, you will get Coaching Credits for each one you don’t use. The higher the unused draft pick the more you will get (3, 2, and 1).

Keep in mind that using your draft picks is one of the best way to keep yourself under the salary cap. You don’t want to have a team full of high cost players when you can get some on a rookie contract that cost way less and develop them yourself. When a player is coming off their rookie contract and are in a non-essential position, consider letting them walk to free agency and drafting a replacement to save coins!

Purchase Coaching Credits

Let me first get out of the way that I’m not sponsored by this game in anyway. The Unlimited Version of Retro Bowl can be purchased for $0.99 USD, and you will get 25 Coaching Credits. You also unlock the Team Editor, Weather, and Replays. This is easily worth it if you plan to play this game for an extended period of time.

You can also purchase Coaching Credits for varying amounts of money, but I don’t recommend doing so. As you play more of the game, you will gain more coins and eventually have more than enough.

That’s everything we know about getting coins aka Coaching Credits in Retro Bowl! You can find more coverage on the game in the Retro Bowl section of our website.
