Gaikotsu Kishi-sama, Tadaima Isekai e Odekakechuu, or Skeleton Knight in Another World, is an anime series that aired during this Spring anime season. Unfortunately for this anime, many believe it’s just another Overlord rip-off. Even though they share some similarities, they differ from one another.

The main characters of both series are skeletons, they were both isekai’d to another world, and they are both overly powered. However, those are where the similarities between the two end.

The Skeleton Knight in Another World is also a fantasy and action isekai with an R-rating because of the violence, profanities, and dark themes. But it’s not an anime for younger audiences, despite what the series’ description reads:

One day, a gamer played video games until he fell asleep…and when he woke up, he found himself in the game world—as a skeleton! Equipped with the powerful weapons and armor of his avatar but stuck with its frightening skeletal appearance, Arc has to find a place for himself in this new, fantastical land. All his hopes for a quiet life are dashed when he crosses paths with a beautiful elven warrior, setting him on a journey full of conflict and adventure.

Skeleton Knight in Another World starts most extremely and disturbingly. But the anime intermingles the violence and action with a comic-relief main character and many light-hearted moments.

Arc, the main character of Skeleton Knight in Another World, is easily flustered, blushes, and can be silly. But he’s also caring, kind, and an excellent character who just wants to live as quietly as possible and potentially lift his curse.

This differs from Ainz Ooal Gown, the main character of Overlord, who is the villain of the series.

While there are similarities between Skeleton Knight in Another World and Overlord, there are many differences between the two. They contain unique storylines, varying yet intriguing worlds, and featured contrasting main characters. Both series are unique and equally enjoyable in their own ways.

Skeleton Knight in Another World and Overlord are worth watching if you love fantasy and action isekai’s and are okay with R-rated animes. Be sure to check out our Entertainment section for more great content!

It’s obviously a rip off. Someone saw that cool armor that ainz was using when he was going undercover and thought they’d make an anime like overlord. I wouldn’t say it’s a *complete* rip off, but it clearly has a lot of ideas taken from it.

Wasn’t Overlord also about a gamer who woke up in another world as the character he was playing?

  3. Batoman Sama

rip off no wonder, if they are same universe im fine then.
