Completing your PokeDex is one of the main goals for Pokemon Legends: Arceus. While this is the idea of most Pokemon games, Arceus really focuses on it. The exploration of the various areas of the map are some of the most fun and interesting aspects of the game. While most Pokemon are straightforward to catch, some can be a bit harder to find and will elude capture. If you are looking for Munchlax to add to your collection, we’ll show you where you can find it in this guide!
Finding Munchlax
Munchlax is located in two different areas: Obsidian Fieldlands at Deertrack Heights/Path and in the Alabaster Icelands near Snowfall Hot Spring. Obsidian Fieldlands is your best bet because the exact spawn location is very close to a camp where you can quickly scan the area for a Munchlax.
While the game lists Munchlax as spawning in Deertrack Heights in Obsidian Fieldlands, you will find it very close to the marker for Deertrack Path. This area spawns Starly, Kricketot, and Geodudes most commonly, and is just northwest of Heights Camp.
The map below circles the area in which it’s possible to find Munchlax spawns. The red marker is the exact location where I found a Munchlax. While this is a guaranteed possible spawn, it can also show up in other places within the marked circle.
Munchlax can appear at any hour of the day and during any weather type. There are no restrictions on it, however, it is a pretty rare spawn which might make you think that there’s something you aren’t doing correctly. Unfortunately, you can only really continually search the known spawn area over and over until you get lucky enough to encounter one.
If you search the area listed on the map and don’t see a Munchlax, you should head back to camp and travel to Jubilife Village. Once you arrive at the village, immediately journey again to the Heights Camp travel location and search the region for Munchlax. Keep repeating this process until one spawns!
Munchlax is skittish, so make sure you sneak up on it when you try to catch it. Battling is not the best option unless you catch it unaware. Entice the Pokemon with a berry of some sort, sneak behind it, and throw an Ultra Ball to add it to your collection.
I found that once one Munchlax spawned in the area, I could travel around the map a bit and come back to the spot where it spawned and find another one. This might be anecdotal, but if it’s true it will make filling out the tasks in your Pokedex for it much easier.
If you need to battle it for your tasks then you will need to sneak into battle similarly as you would to catch it. Throw a berry and hit it with one of your Pokemon from behind. This will take them into a fight unaware, which makes it so they can’t run away for a couple of moves.
That’s everything you need to know about finding yourself a Munchlax! You will find a variety of informative content on the game in the Pokemon Arceus section of our website.
