Octopath Traveler II has been teasing its content in anticipation of its release the following year. Recently, Octopath Traveler II introduced two of the eight new protagonists of the game in a new trailer.
Octopath Traveler II is an upcoming role-playing video game by Square Enix and Acquire. It is a sequel to the 2018 Octopath Traveler, and the third installment in the series after the prequel mobile game Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent. It differs from prior games in terms of both its playable characters and its setting.
Octopath Traveler II is set for release on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC on February 24, 2023. Two of the eight new protagonists, Throné, the Thief, and Temenos, the Cleric, were revealed in a new trailer, along with details on the revamped job system. Octopath Traveler II continues the same structure as its predecessor, which follows the adventures of eight distinct characters throughout the game. However, it focuses on eight new characters in a setting distinct from that of prior games. The story unfolds in the world of Solistia, where civilizations from east to west coexist and the industries of the new period prosper.
In the new trailer, Throné was introduced as a member of the Blacksnakes, a thieves guild that controls the city from the shadows. As Throné, the player will embark on a journey for freedom as they work to steal and clean. Apart from stealing items from townspeople, Throné can ambush people and knock them unconscious as well as use the Blessing of Darkness to augment all allies at night. Throné’s Leave No Trace Latent Power allows her to act twice in a single turn.
Meanwhile, Temenos was introduced as an easygoing Inquisitor. He has the ability to guide townspeople and take them on his journey. He can also coerce townspeople for information by breaking them in battle. Temenos can use Moonlight Judgment to enfeeble all enemies at night. Temenos’ Judge Latent Power allows him to lower enemy Shield Points with any attacks.
In Octopath Traveler II, the stories of the characters are more intertwined than in the previous installment. It also has a new job system that provides players even more freedom than in the original game, as well as the appearance of guilds around the land.
Octopath Traveler II is now available for pre-order at the Nintendo eShop.
