Remnant: From the Ashes, a brilliant co-op survival shooter featuring terrifying inter-dimensional creatures, has just announced a Nintendo Switch port. A release window and date were not confirmed, but today’s new trailer promises it’s “coming soon”. Here’s the full announcement trailer from publisher THQ Nordic:
Remnant: From the Ashes is a dazzling game with Lovecraftian horror, Western shooter imagery, and compelling post-apocalyptic survival themes. It can also be very challenging, especially those boss battles.
The enemies don’t just boast inventive and creepy art design. They each have unique behavior mechanics, and boss fights generally take one or two tries, even when you upgrade everything as much as possible. You will need to learn their rhythm, like a classic arcade game. Their difficulty curve generally strays quite far from the rest of the enemy population, but success is even more rewarding.
Best of all, Remnant: From the Ashes smartly implements cooperative gameplay. It doesn’t feel like an afterthought, because the mechanics balance well and the sense of fear isn’t lost.
It will probably seem a little strange to take Remnant: From the Ashes on the go with Nintendo Switch, since the epic otherworldly scale is probably better suited for the largest screen possible. It may not be best for Nintendo Switch Lite users. However, it’ll be great to finally see the game open up to even more audiences.
After all, even though Remnant: From the Ashes released years ago, the sequel was recently announced last December. It’s coming this year on PC and the next-gen consoles for PlayStation and Xbox. Now, Switch fans will have the chance to catch up on the first game before Remnant 2 launches. Here’s the announcement trailer for Remnant 2:
