Riot Games announced the new competitive mode coming to Valorant called Premier. It is expected to be a stepping stone for providing players a more intense competition than what they are accustomed to in Ranked. As stated by Riot, Premier “presents an even higher goal beyond Radiant that provides the most competition-hungry players with a rewarding challenge beyond ranked.” In short, players will similarly experience Valorant as the pro players in eSports. The new competing mode is entering its “Alpha” test in Brazil

According to Twitter user, ValorantIntel, Valorant Premier allows players to form their teams, complete with a logo and color scheme, and compete in matches. Each match contains a banning and picking system where the two groups will ban and choose maps. Subsequently, each game will be given a corresponding point. The points earned will be the basis for qualifying for the end-of-season tournament. Furthermore, the teams will be able to see the whole roster to know their upcoming matches. Each season will run for a few weeks, and the goal is to qualify for the playoffs to battle for the Division Champion title.

In November, players in Brazil will be able to participate in the “Alpha” Test and examine the key features of Premier. Afterward, the players may provide feedback to Riot Games regarding their experience in playing Premier. The features that need to be tested are:

  • Team Creation (logo and color)
  • Server load
  • Tournament play (including the map pick-and-ban system)
  • Premier Score (Progress to playoffs score)
  • Matchmaking and queue health throughout the Alpha test
  • General bugs and more

As of now, Riot has not yet released a statement on when they planned to launch Premier globally. However, Riot stated that Premier is about 60% of all the planned features and functionality. The alpha test will allow Riot to test and ensure Premier will be pushed faster.
