Welcome to Beaks on Roblox! If you enjoy chill games where you explore and collect things, like Fisch, you might like this one too. Beaks is all about tracking down and catching different birds using a tranquilizer rifle. It takes a bit more aiming skill than some other games, and there are a few systems that might seem confusing at first. How to Get Started in Beaks – A Beginner’s Guide

The main goal in Beaks is to catch various birds using your rifle and darts, sell them for money, and use that money and the experience points (EXP) you gain to get better equipment. You’ll start with basic gear and explore different areas to find rarer birds. Key activities include learning the controls, upgrading your rifle, using different dart types effectively, finding good farming spots, getting essential gear like the Glider, and completing quests from characters you meet.

Beaks Controls Explained

Catching birds means shooting them with tranquilizer darts from your rifle. Rarer birds usually have more health and take more shots. Aiming takes practice because you need to account for how fast the bird is moving and how the dart drops over distance – try leading your shots a bit! You can also turn on ‘aim-assist’ in the settings menu (the gear icon in the top left) if you find aiming difficult, especially on mobile or console.

Here are the basic controls you’ll need:

How to Get More Rifles in Beaks

Your rifle is your most important tool. You start with a basic one, but you’ll need better rifles to take down tougher birds more easily.

  • Where to Buy
    • You can purchase new rifles from Gunsmith NPCs. These characters are usually found in the main camp area of each major zone (like Beakwoods, Quill Lake, Mount Beaks, and Deadlands).
  • Rifle Progression
    • Here’s a good path for upgrading your rifle as you level up and earn money:
      • Beakwood Rifle
        • Your free starting rifle. (Level 0, 5 Dmg, 0.5 Fire Rate)
      • Hunter’s Rifle
        • Buy this first from the Beakwoods Gunsmith for $1,500 once you reach Level 5. It’s a big damage increase. (Level 5, 8 Dmg, 0.5 Fire Rate)
      • Lakeborne Rifle
        • Get this from the Quill Lake Gunsmith for $12,500 at Level 15. It offers a much better range and a faster fire rate, making farming much easier. (Level 15, 12 Dmg, 0.35 Fire Rate)
      • (Optional) Mt. Beaks Long-Rifle
        • Available at the Mount Beaks Gunsmith for $25,000 at Level 20. It hits harder and has more range than the Lakeborne, but the handling is worse, and it’s quite expensive for the improvement. You might skip this one. (Level 20, 16 Dmg, 0.3 Fire Rate)
      • Viper Rifle
        • The current top-tier rifle, found at the Deadlands Gunsmith for $55,000 at Level 35. It has excellent damage and good overall stats, making it your end-game goal. (Level 35, 25 Dmg, 0.4 Fire Rate)

Upgrading your rifle makes catching birds faster, which means more money and EXP sooner.

Understanding Darts (Ammo) in Beaks

Darts are the ammunition for your rifle. You have infinite Default Darts, but you can buy special darts to make catching birds easier or more profitable.

  • Where to Buy
    • Purchase darts from Dartsmith NPCs, also found in the main camps of major areas. You can buy them in bulk.
  • How They Work
    • Special darts are used up with each shot. Some darts increase damage, speed, or range. Others have a chance to apply a mutation to the bird you hit.
  • Mutations
    • If a dart has a mutation chance (like Golden or Mythical), each hit has a small percentage chance (e.g., 5%) to apply that mutation. Once the mutation is applied (you’ll usually get a notification or see a visual change), you can switch back to your infinite Default Darts to finish catching the bird without wasting more special darts. Mutations significantly increase the bird’s selling value.
  • Best Darts to Consider:
    • Iron Dart:
      • $10) Increases damage by 50% and range by 25%. Good for taking down tough birds faster. Available early.
    • Golden Dart:
      • ($50) Has a 5% chance to apply the Golden mutation, which doubles the bird’s value (and can stack). Available early.
    • Mythical Dart:
      • ($75) Has a 5% chance to apply the Mythical mutation, which multiplies the bird’s value by 4.5x. Available later (Mount Beaks/Deadlands).
  • When to Use:
    • It’s generally best to save special darts for rarer, more valuable birds. Using expensive darts on common birds isn’t cost-effective. You might also want to wait until you have a decent rifle (like the Lakeborne Rifle) before heavily investing in darts, as it can drain your money quickly early on.

Best Locations for Money and EXP in Beaks

Where you choose to hunt makes a big difference in how fast you progress.

  • Early Game (Beakwoods)
    • You start here. Catch the common birds to reach Level 5 and earn enough for the Hunter’s Rifle ($1,500).
  • Mid Game (Quill Lake)
    • This area has birds like flamingos ($100+ sell price, 1-in-100 spawn rate) that are relatively easy targets, often sitting in the water. It’s a decent step up from Beakwoods. You can also buy the Lakeborne Rifle here ($12,500).
  • Best Farming Spot (Mount Beaks)
    • Currently, Mount Beaks is widely considered the best place to farm both money and EXP efficiently.
      • Why it’s Good
        • It has plenty of high-value birds (like falcons and eagles) that give good cash and EXP rewards. Many of these birds fly high but can be slow-moving targets once you get their attention.
      • Strategy
        • Find a high vantage point, like climbing up onto trees, watchtowers, or hills. Shooting from the ground can be very difficult. Target the larger birds flying overhead (like Falcons for great EXP). Shoot them once to get their attention; they might turn and fly closer, making subsequent shots easier. Once a bird is close, try to keep hitting it to make it change direction repeatedly, keeping it nearby until you catch it.
  • Late Game (Deadlands)
    • This area has very rare and valuable birds, but it is much harder. The birds have more health, move faster, and the terrain is vast. It’s best tackled once you have the Viper Rifle.

Focusing your efforts on Mount Beaks once you have the Hunter’s or Lakeborne Rifle is generally the fastest way to level up and earn money for better gear.

Important Equipment in Beaks

Besides your rifle, there’s one piece of gear that’s highly recommended.

  • The Glider
    • This item lets you glide through the air, making travel between areas or reaching high spots much faster than walking.
      • Location: You can buy the Glider on Mount Beaks. Follow the Pinewood River (it might be behind some bushes near the top part of the mountain) to its end. An NPC there sells it.
      • Cost: $2,500. It’s worth saving up for early on.
  • Other Gear
    • You can also buy items like Binoculars (near the Glider seller), Night Vision, and Thermal Vision (from an NPC at Silverstone Camp, past Quill Lake). While Thermal Vision ($10,000) can help spot birds, especially at night or from far away, these items are generally considered less essential than the Glider, especially for beginners. Focus on getting the Glider first.

Quests and Progression in Beaks

Keep an eye out for NPCs scattered around the different areas who might offer you quests.

  • Quest Givers
    • Characters with quest markers will give you tasks (like catching specific birds).
  • Rewards
    • Completing these quests rewards you with EXP and money.
  • Accepting Quests
    • You can have multiple quests active at once. It’s usually a good idea to accept any quest you find, as you might complete them naturally while hunting.
  • Selling Birds
    • To get money, you need to sell the birds you’ve caught. Look for Bird Collector NPCs (like Neil in Beakwoods) in the main camp areas.
  • Changing Spawn
    • Talk to Campers found at various camps to set your spawn location closer to your preferred hunting grounds.

That covers the basics to get you started in Beaks! Focus on upgrading your rifle, find a good spot like Mount Beaks to farm, grab the Glider when you can, use your darts wisely, and complete quests as you find them.
