Sifu, the martial arts indie hit from developer and publisher Sloclap, has just released a new trailer revealing that it will launch on Xbox and Steam sometime in March 2023. This will coincide with a free update on all platforms, featuring the brand-new Arenas mode, which includes more modifiers, cheats and outfits. Here’s the full trailer on YouTube:

Sifu was a remarkable surprise for the brawler genre. Although it’s an indie, the grounded combat mechanics are very satisfying. The movements are fluid and practical, giving the game a more tactile feel than most of its peers, or even games that fall strictly within the fighting genre.

The art design may be a little simplistic, but that helps prevent complex action from becoming an incomprehensible mess. More than a few AAA games can be accused of that, especially with piles of effects every time characters connect.

Sifu launched in February of 2022, so it’s a relief to see it expand platform support to wider audiences. The game absolutely deserves it, and although it would be great to find Sifu on the Xbox Game Pass later on, there is a massive Steam audience that has been waiting for this. It will definitely perform well on the Steam Deck.

It’s much appreciated that Sifu’s new launches will be accompanied by a free update, which adds a decent amount of content. Not just cosmetics, but features that will boost replay value. These can only be acquired by completing a brand-new mode, which offers a variety of interesting environments. This is exactly the kind of DLC that fans crave.

On top of that, today’s teaser promises that even more news is due to be announced soon. You can read more about Sifu, Sloclap, and other indie fighting games by checking out the rest of our news section!
