Gun Interactive, the development firm behind the asymmetrical-horror video game, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, has released more information about the game’s upcoming Technical Test. The event is scheduled to commence on Thursday, May 25th, and conclude at midnight on Monday, May 29th. The test will be exclusively available on Steam.
The purpose of the Technical Test is to gather feedback from the gaming community and collaborate with Gun Interactive and Sumo Nottingham to fine-tune the game before its official launch on August 18th. The test aims to evaluate the game’s technical performance and capabilities, focusing on stress testing and backend services, rather than providing a preview of the finished product.
To participate in the Technical Test, players should wishlist The Texas Chain Saw Massacre on Steam, which will keep them informed when the Tech Test page goes live. The test will be free and open to the public, with a limited number of seats available. There will be no Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) for the test, allowing players to stream, create, and upload content during the event.
The Technical Test’s system requirements are listed as follows:
- 1080p 30FPS: i5 CPU / 8GB RAM / 30GB HDD / RTX 2070
- 1080p 60FPS: i7 CPU / 16GB RAM / 30GB SSD / RTX 3070
- 4k 30FPS: i7 CPU / 16GB RAM / 30GB SSD / RTX 3090
- 4k 60FPS: i9 CPU / 16GB RAM / 30GB SSD / RTX 4090
During the Technical Test, players can expect PVP matches with others who received Steam keys and access to the Family House map. Victims Leland, Connie, Sonny, and Ana will be playable, as well as Slaughter Family members The Cook, The Hitchhiker, and Leatherface.
While the Technical Test build is the latest version of the game, it is not the final product. The game is set to launch on August 18th, 2023, for PC, PlayStation 5 (PS5) & PlayStation 4 (PS4), Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. It will also be available on Game Pass for Xbox and PC.
