The Riftbreaker, an action-RPG where players venture across alien landscapes, has released its latest paid DLC, Into the Dark. This new expansion presents an exciting branch of the game’s Story Campaign, set in the novel underground Crystal Caverns biome. The underground scenario also introduces the unique ability for players to establish a subterranean Outpost by excavating the soft limestone rock to manipulate the environment as per their requirements.
The DLC boasts a collection of new features that players can explore. There are additional research items, technologies, weapons, and defensive towers, further expanding the game’s extensive repertoire. Players can also gather information on a variety of new creatures, vegetation, and other curiosities exclusive to this underground environment. These features have been designed to challenge players to adapt their base-building strategies to make optimal use of the novel terrain-shaping abilities and power-generation mechanics.
One of the notable aspects of the Into the Dark DLC is that the Story expansion is seamlessly integrated with the Main Campaign from the base edition of The Riftbreaker. This allows players to continue their adventure from where they last left off. For players who have previously completed The Riftbreaker Story Campaign, the additional part of the Story will unlock instantly, enabling immediate exploration of the new world segment.
Accompanying the release of the DLC is a free update, World Expansion II, which includes a new Survival Mode scenario that fully utilizes the new cavern-digging mechanic. Players can now employ Mr. Riggs’ drilling arm or use explosives to create the space needed for expansion. Alongside the new scenario, the update introduces new creature species, research items, technologies, weapons, and defensive towers. Players can look forward to major quality-of-life upgrades and graphic enhancements with the incorporation of volumetric lighting.
The World Expansion II update includes more than 70 new research items and technologies. It allows players to expand their energy grid using Energy Relay Stations and employ drones to gather resources and valuable loot. New weapons and defensive towers have been added, with features like Bouncing Blades and Laser Gatling Tower offering powerful offensive options against adversaries threatening player bases.
The Into the Dark DLC for The Riftbreaker is available across various platforms including Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG, and Windows Store, priced at $9.99. The expansion’s release date for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles will be announced in the near future.
