WWE 2K23, the upcoming sequel in the ongoing wrestling series from publisher 2K Games, has just confirmed recent rumors that it will launch on March 17th, 2023.
WWE 2K23 will be available on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, including next-gen consoles. There will be multiple editions available for pre-order. These include the Standard Edition, Icon Edition, Deluxe Edition, and Cross-Gen Digital Edition. Each will have their own unique content.
2K Games also announced that John Cena would be the cover star, with a new teaser inspired by Cena’s famous catchphrase (and meme) “you can’t see me”. So, even if leaks spoiled the cover star, there’s still plenty to enjoy in today’s teaser. You can watch the full video here:
It can sometimes feel a little cringeworthy when devs try to lean into meme culture, but today’s teaser was admittedly pretty amusing.
John Cena has always boasted tremendous star power, but he definitely cemented a brand-new audience with Peacekeeper’s success in The Suicide Squad and the titular series. So, it’s always a delight to see him behind the camera, and today’s announcement is sure to please longtime fans of WWE 2K.
The game series has seen a lot of ups and downs, although the latest titles have largely been considered a return to form. As much fun as today’s announcement was, many fans are still withholding hype until a couple of gameplay trailers reveal what to expect.
All of the pre-order editions are pushing a playable Bad Bunny, which is just a little odd and probably underwhelming. Only the Icon Edition will offer early access, by three days, as well as the Ruthless Aggression Content, which is undoubtedly the highlight. It comes with an arena, young Brock Lesnar, and other content that actually feels made to service the fans.
