To perform Chain Attacks, you must first fill up the Chain Attack gauge displayed on the right side of the screen. The Chain Attack gauge will slowly increase during combats as you perform combo attacks such as Break, Topple, Launch, and Daze, as well as canceling an attack on Arts and performing role actions. Once the gauge is at its maximum capacity, you may initiate a Chain Attack by pressing the start button (+). However, before you do so, you must ensure that all your characters are still alive.

Following the activation of the Chain Attack, you will be given the option to choose between three distinct Chain Orders. These Chain Orders are randomly selected from your party. The indicated Completion Bonus of each Chain Order represents the first Chain Attack that you will put into effect later on for a round.

Afterward, you may start attacking the enemy by choosing a party member from the list displayed in the bottom left of the screen. The Tactical Points that each member grants once you choose them for attacking are also indicated above their icon. Tactical Points are essential in filling up the Chain Attack gauge .

To gain more Tactical Points, be sure that the role of the chosen character matches the character you selected for the Chain Order. Once you reach a 100% Tactical Point, the Chain Order will trigger, allowing the featured character from the Chain Order to perform a multi-hit attack and end the round. The bonus damage is determined by the amount of the Chain Attack gauge that has been filled.

Another round will begin if the chain attack gauge has not drained yet. However, characters that you used in the previous round will be unavailable unless you completed the round with a Defender, which allows certain characters to be reactivated and ready to be employed in another round. The cycle will continue until the chain attack gauge is completely depleted.

That’s all you need to learn in performing Chain Attacks in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. If you want to learn more about the game, be sure to check out the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 section of our website!
