Anime Last Stand Cid (Shadow) Guide

Shadow (Cid) is a new unit in Anime Last Stand, obtainable only through Ashen Ruins portals. This guide explains how these portals work and how to acquire them, maximizing your chances of adding Shadow to your team. You cannot get Shadow from Halloween Capsules, like every other unit added in this Halloween ALS update.

How to Get Shadow

Shadow can actually be dropped from any Tier of Ashen Ruins Portal. I’ve seen comments that players have obtained him in a Tier 1 portal to Tier 3 Portals, basically every tier of portal. So don’t be discouraged if you don’t have access to higher tiers, as you may get him as low as Tier 1!

Yes, luck is a massive factor, but Shadow seems like a pretty easy unit to get; it just takes patience. Honestly, by completing these portals, you’ll get candy for purchasing Halloween Capsules for a chance to get Dracula, and you may even get the Tier 6 Secret Ashen Ruins Portal for another chance to get Dracula.

Keep an eye on the left corner of the screen when inside an Ashen Ruins Portal, as it will tell you the number of items you have obtained during it. It will tell you the amount of Candy and Pumpkin Essence you’ve earned so far. But if you happen to see a figure below the Pumpkin Essence, then you’ll have an unlocked Shadow.

Understanding Ashen Ruins Portals

Ashen Ruins portals are wave-based challenges, each containing up to 50 waves of enemies. As you progress, you’ll encounter a risk/reward system involving random buffs and debuffs. After each wave, six cards representing various buffs and debuffs will appear. Clicking “Roll” selects one at random.

These buffs and debuffs can significantly impact your run. Buffs can include instant cash rewards (e.g., 100,000 cash), increased range (+5%), or damage boosts (+5%). Debuffs can increase enemy HP (+30%), trigger invasions, or spawn additional bosses (+5). The card selection is entirely random, adding an element of unpredictability to each portal run. While you can’t choose your modifiers, the more debuffs you accumulate, the greater the rewards for completing the portal (reaching wave 50).

Ways to Obtain Ashen Ruin Portals in Anime Last Stand

There are two ways to obtain Ashen Ruins portals:

1. The Halloween Event Shop

The simplest method is purchasing a Tier 1 Ashen Ruins portal from the Halloween Event Shop for 200 Diamonds. You’ll find the Event Shop to the left of the Play building.

2. Earning Portals as Drops

Upon completing an Ashen Ruins portal, you have a chance to receive another portal as a drop. This could be a portal of the same tier or even a higher tier, up to tier 5. Joining another player’s portal also offers a drop chance, although the probability is lower for non-hosts. You can even earn Tier 6 (Secret) Ashen Ruins Portal from completing portals, although the drop chance is extremely low.

By consistently completing Ashen Ruins portals, you’ll not only increase your chances of obtaining Shadow (Cid) but also earn valuable rewards and progress towards higher-tier portals, which offer even greater challenges and rewards.
