A Dusty Trip Magic Hammer Guide: Unlocking the Golden Weapon
Starting the Quest: Finding the Blacksmith
The quest for the Magic Hammer in A Dusty Trip begins with the Blacksmith, called Smithy Sabo. He’s found exclusively on the desert map, usually near the 1,000m checkpoint. Once in the desert map, build your car and start driving. The Blacksmith will appear as a new checkpoint building.
The Blacksmith’s Task: Collecting Golden Ingots
Talk to the Blacksmith, and he’ll ask you to bring him three Golden Ingots.
Finding Golden Ingots: A Treasure Hunt
Golden Ingots are found in buildings scattered across the map. Before the update, they were extremely rare (1/500,000 chance). Now, they are more common but still require some searching. Look in various buildings, including bathrooms and firewatch towers.
Important Considerations for Ingot Hunting:
- Golden Ingots must be collected in a single run. You can’t save them between games.
- If you die, you lose the Golden Ingots.
- The Golden Ingots can be destroyed if other players shoot at them while they’re in your car.
- Driving the faster PL22 plane might be more efficient for traversing the map, but the 15-second startup time after exiting can be a drawback.
Returning to the Blacksmith
Once you’ve collected all three Golden Ingots, return to the Blacksmith at the 1,000m checkpoint. Drop the ingots in front of him. The Magic Hammer will not appear in your inventory immediately. You need to return to the lobby.
Equipping the Magic Hammer
After returning to the lobby, you’ll find the Magic Hammer in your storage under “Melee.” Equip it from there.
Magic Hammer Performance: Is It Worth It?
The Magic Hammer is a unique weapon. You throw it by aiming and clicking, with decent range. However, it’s not very powerful, but it can return to you like Thors Mjolnir hammer, which is one of the only upsides to it.
- Damage: Takes eight hits to kill a regular mutant.
- Splash Damage: The hammer doesn’t have splash damage, only hitting one enemy at a time, even if it visually passes through multiple enemies.
Overall, the Magic Hammer is considered one of the weakest weapons in the game. While its infinite ammo and permanent status are perks, other weapons, including the basic pistol, are significantly more effective. The 30-minute grind for the Golden Ingots might not be worth the payoff unless you’re a completionist.
