Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl (BDSP) are now available for the Nintendo Switch, and with their release comes a variety of interesting challenges and questions for players. While the games are fairly straight-forward, some of the new mechanics and fun aspects of them can be a bit tricky! If you are looking for the Shiny Stones in this set of games, we’ll show you how to get them so that you can evolve some Pokemon!
Shiny Stone Locations in BDSP
To get a Shiny Stone in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl (BDSP) you will either need to head to Iron Island or Route 228 to find them as floor loot. You can also use the Pokemon Pachirisu, which can have the Pickup ability, and will occasionally steal them from other Pokemon.
The Shiny Stone can be used to evolve the following Pokemon:
- Togetic -> Togekiss
- Roselia -> Roserade
- Minccino -> Cinccino
- Floette -> Florges
One method that you can use to get a Shiny Stone is to catch a Pachirisu at the Valley Windworks area of the game. You will need one that has the Pickup ability, which does the following:
The Pokemon may pick up the item an opposing Pokemon used during a battle. It may pick up items outside of battle, too.
Once you get one, raise the Parchirisu’s level to 11 (required to get a chance at one of the evolution stones) and then fight trainers. Make sure to check the Pokemon after each battle to see if it has obtained an item. If it has one, make sure to remove it so it can grab another one in the next fight. Keep this up until you’ve got the Shiny Stone you are trying to get!
A couple of tips for this is that you can use a Budew that has the Worry Seed move on it when you encounter a Pachirisu to show what ability is on it. This way you don’t have to waste time catching a Pachirisu that doesn’t have Pickup.
If you really want to gather up some items, you should consider getting multiple Pachirisu and having them in your party so you have multiple chances to get what you want.
There are two Shiny Stones available in both games as floor loot. One of them can be obtained prior to completing the story of the game, and the other you can get in the post game.
The first Shiny Stone we’ll cover requires that you have 5 badges in the game and have obtained the ability to use Surf. Head over to Canalave City and talk to the sailor who will take you to Iron Island on the sailboat. Once there you can run up the stairs and go inside of the cave.
When you enter the cave, head to the right side opening of the area. Once you’re in this area, go to the right and follow the path and head south. You should see a trainer with bright green hair, and there will be stairs there on the right. Go up those and follow the bath down towards the lift. Take the elevator down to the next area. Once you reach the bottom, head to the left.
Once the new cave area has loaded up, go down and stick to the right. You will pass a couple of fighter trainers, and as you go down you will want to go left, and not on the stairs to the right. Follow the path then go up the stairs and go between the two trainers with green hair. Keep going down and then go up the stairs and onto the next lift.
When you reach the bottom of the elevator, head to the left into the next area. Go up the elevator, reach the top, go down the stairs and then to the right to pick up the Shiny Stone item! If it isn’t there, you might have already gotten it!
As for the post-game Shiny Stone, head to the Resort Area on the map. Go up and through Route 229 until you reach Route 228, which features a desert area with a shifting sandstorm.
Go past the first mudslide you come across as you go up through the area. When you arrive at the second mudslide, pull out your bike and set it to mach mode. This will allow you to get up the slide. Head to the left, and then down and to the right over the thin beam. You will then see an item there which is the final Shiny Stone!
