Hammer of Virtue, an upcoming action game from Swedish indie developer No Pest Productions, has just revealed that it will support split-screen co-op and Deathmatch levels at launch.
Although a concrete release date has not been confirmed, it’s expected to launch in Q2 of 2023. It will be available on PlayStation 5, or PC via Steam. Here’s the full trailer from No Pest Productions’ official YouTube channel:
Adding these features to Hammer of Virtue is pretty ambitious, but it should absolutely make a difference in building a fanbase. Hammer of Virtue thrives on the physics of its world, featuring unusually destructible environments and the comedic results of powerful battles.
In this way, Hammer of Virtue further resembles the likes of Goat Simulator. That game already rewards players for exploring a highly interactive setting and proceeding to interact with everything possible, just to discover what could happen. But doing so with somebody really expands how much the game can feel unexpected.
Creating dedicated levels that support the new multiplayer features was a smart way to ease their demands, while giving players what they want. Hammer of Virtue clearly created a wacky world that is worth exploring, and today’s trailer showcases just some of the great mishaps that players can get up to when they’re given more freedom.
According to the new trailer description, there will be ten unique levels that support co-op, and players will have the chance to revive each other by performing a perfect block. That’s about half of the single-player campaign, so it will be a surprising amount of content. It also happens to be split-screen, which is a sorely missed feature that only indie games care to indulge these days.
