Against the Storm is Set to Leave Early Access on December 8

Exciting developments are underway for fans of the dark fantasy city builder, Against the Storm, as publisher Hooded Horse and developer Eremite Games have officially announced that the game’s full version is finally heading to Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store, and PC Game Pass on December 8, 2023. Adding to the excitement, details of the new features coming to Against the Storm as part of its version 1.0 launch have also been revealed.

As Eremite Games prepares for the 1.0 launch, the developer will continue to roll out bi-weekly updates, with the next one slated for November 23. These updates, known as “Modest updates,” will bring various improvements to user experience, balance adjustments, and bug fixes.

For the much-awaited Against the Storm 1.0 Update, players can look forward to a new mode designed for the most experienced of Viceroys, called Queen’s Hand Trial. In this mode, players have one Cycle to reforge the Adamantine Seal—the game’s most challenging endeavor. Starting from scratch, players must strategically choose their Upgrades as they are an expensive commodity.

The new Queen’s Hand mode also introduces a permadeath element at every stage. Once players have abandoned a settlement and fail to reforge the Seal in time, they will face defeat. Furthermore, those who fail will be deprived of the Upgrades they acquired and their progression in the mode will be reset. However, those who emerge victorious will be awarded the title of Queen’s Hand and will be granted a rare audience with the Scorched Queen herself.

Against the Storm entered the Early Access phase last year, November 2022. Since then, the game has built a dedicated community who have contributed valuable feedback for the refinement of the Against the Storm. Despite being in early access, the game has garnered overwhelmingly positive reviews, owing to the unique and highly engaging city builder experience it offers. Thankfully, fans won’t have to wait any longer to experience Against the Store in its entirety.
