Microsoft Store takes down Age of Empires 2 DLC shortly after posting

Age of Empires 2 DLC was posted to the Microsoft Store but seemed to have been taken down. A reddit post was made about it on r/AoE which was also taken down shortly after posting. Luckily, we were able to get the information from the comments and piece them together below. The DLC Mountain Royals costs $14.99, includes two new civilisations and three new campaigns.

There’s no release date but it must be soon since we can see images from the old posting. The deleted post can only be viewed on old Reddit. There are three new campaigns, Amar’s Ascension, Thoros The Great, and Ismail. We’ll list a summary of each description so you get the gist:

• Amar’s Ascension: Tamar, Georgia’s first queen, ascends to the throne after being imprisoned. She’s got big plans but quickly learns that power is not easy to wield.
• Thoros The Great: Prince Thoros of Civilian Armenia embarks on a dangerous campaign to liberate his homeland from the Byzantines and Seljik Turks.
• Ismail: Ismail, an orphaned prodigy, leads the Safavid Order through war-torn Persia. He hopes to lay the groundwork for a grand empire.

Here is the Microsoft Store description of the new Armenians faction prior to the takedown:

“Throw off the yoke of foreign domination and rebuild your ancestral kingdom in the mountainous terrain near Lakes Van, Sevan, and Urmia. The Armenian unique units are the Composite Bowman, a skilled archer capable of piercing even the sturdiest armor, and the Warrior Priest, an infantry unit that can fight and heal allied units.”

The following is the description of the new Georgian faction on the Microsoft Store before the takedown:

“Carve out a sturdy kingdom in the shadow of the Caucuses Mountains and use the rugged terrain to your advantage as you repulse countless foreign invasions. The Georgians unique unit is the Monaspa, a brawny calvary unit whose strength increases in numbers.”
