Today, Xbox Game Studios has revealed the release of the ‘Return to Rome‘ DLC of Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition on May 16th.
As part of the Age of Empires 25th Anniversary Broadcast back in October 2022, Xbox Game Studios provided several exciting announcements for players of their historical real-time strategy game series. Among the highlights of the 25th Anniversary celebration announcements include the Xbox console and mobile port of Age of Empires, as well as the release of Age of Empires IV Anniversary Edition, and the new Age of Empires II: Definitive DLC, titled ‘Return of Rome’.
‘Return of Rome’ has a particular significance for veteran players since it is from the first game of the series as well as the Age of Empires: Definitive Edition, originally titled ‘The Rise of Rome‘ expansion pack. Since it was introduced, there have been numerous mods that had tried to port ‘The Rise of Rome’ into Age of Empires II. Finally, this Age of Empires content will now be included in the Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition engine as the fourth expansion pack, following the Dynasties of India DLC released last year.
Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition has been well-received since its release, owing to its challenging mechanics that include smart AI opponents as well as its various game modes, which provide players with a variety of activities to keep them engaged. Introducing the ‘Return of Rome’ DLC into Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition is surely a great take, especially since this beloved classic expansion will be even improved.
Xbox Games Studio has not provided further information about the Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition Return of Rome DLC at this time. Nonetheless, with its release date fast approaching, fans may expect additional details to be revealed in the following weeks.
