Developer The Behemoth recently made an exciting announcement, revealing that its classic run ‘n’ gun sidescroller from 2002, Alien Hominid, is getting a modern makeover and will soon be released as Alien Hominid HD on modern gaming platforms.
Alien Hominid HD is set to launch later this year on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC alongside the previously announced sequel, Alien Hominid Invasion. Adding to the excitement, The Behemoth will offer Hominid HD as a bundle with Invasion, allowing fans to save up on their purchase.
In Alien Hominid HD, players will experience classic sidescroller gameplay, navigating their surroundings by jumping, dodging attacks, grabbing agents, and digging underground. Using their trusted blaster, players will shoot at anything in their path and throw grenades toward their enemies. Players may also engage in close-up combat, allowing them to catch agents off guard using a knife or by chomping their heads off.
This award-winning 2D side-scroller is notable for its adorable hand-drawn graphics, fast-paced gameplay, and humor. Alien Hominid HD promises to bring a nostalgic experience for fans of this beloved title by retaining its charm, all while introducing improved visuals and the same hardcore gaming experience.
Alien Hominid HD is playable in solo or two-player local co-op. This modern version is also keeping the three classic difficulty options – Easy, Normal, and Insane. In Easy mode, players will have seven lives and two shields from weapon pickups. Normal mode grants players five lives and one shield from weapon pickups. The Insane mode is designed for those seeking intense and more challenging gameplay, giving players only three lives and one-hit kills.
All of the original mini-games will also be included in Alien Hominid HD, including 201 levels of PDA Games, Super Soviet Missile Mastar, All You Can Eat, Neutron Ball, Pinata Fiesta, and Challenge Mode.
The Behemoth has yet to announce an exact release date for Alien Hominid HD. Nonetheless, those who want to be alerted as soon as Alien Hominid HD becomes available can now add the game to their wishlist on Steam.
