The Virtual Reality industry has exploded in recent years, earning an estimated $2.9 billion in 2021 alone, according to Statista. Meta Quest just held a gaming showcase talking about the hottest games coming to the VR device this year.
There were a lot of popular industries shown, from Ghostbusters to The Walking Dead. Many fan favorites are getting sequels, and brand new games no one expected are coming to the Meta Quest. The showcase made a point in a slide before the showcase to say that all the games shown would be released this year.
Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners Chapter 2: Retribution
This new action-adventure game from Skydance Interactive is returning the player to New Orleans. As the players choose to save or condemn the city, their actions have consequences. Now, players will return to the Bayou to face off against the undead hordes.
NFL Pro Era
In this new VR game from the NFL, the player will take on the role of the quarterback on the field. You’ll call plays as a member of several teams and work with your team to achieve victory.
Among Us VR
This feels a little sus, but Among Us VR is finally getting somewhat of a release date. In the leadup to the video, the host and executive producer, Ruth Bram, announced that it would be coming Holiday 2022. Players will soon be able to develop trust issues in a whole new way, thanks to the immersive version of Among Us.
Red Matter 2
On a planet-hopping adventure in our solar system, Red Matter 2 is picking up right where the first game left off. Players will uncover dark mysteries that will have consequences for the entire universe if the player can’t stop them.
Espire 2
This VR game will let the player decide how they want to play, either loud and proud or in the shadows using tools and strategy. Players can work alone or team up with a friend to learn more about the story between the first and second Espire games.
Moss Book 2
Moss Book II is set to release later this year, continuing where the first book left off. The new trailer showcases new powers and enemies that the player and Quill will have to deal with together.
Ruins Magus
This first-person action title will put players in a beautiful fantasy world with one-of-a-kind visuals. Starting as a beginner wizard, the player will search for lost artifacts as they learn more about their new world and grow their power.
Cities VR
The original Cities game has been out for years, letting players live out their dreams as city planners. Now, they’ll be able to get up close and personal to their urban developments, with all the features that fans have come to love.
BONELAB
This is a game that the community has requested following the hit VR game BONEWORKS on PCVR. It received renown for its environment and level of real-life physics included in the game. Built for the Quest 2 and PCVR, this sequel is meant to evolve on everything BONEWORKS did well.
Ghostbusters VR
This end surprise was introduced by Meta head Mark Zuckerberg and is arguably the most memorable of the showcase. Ghostbusters VR will be a multiplayer title that sees players working together to fight off any spiritual entities.
These games are set to release in 2022 unless they face development setbacks. In addition to these new games, new content for Beat Saber and Resident Evil 4 was also announced and released today.
