Dark Burial is an indie action platformer video game that was developed by Drageus Games and was originally released on PC in 2019 and on Nintendo Switch in 2020. It takes place in a pixel art environment reminiscent of arcade games, where players take on the role of a sentinel who is tasked with fending off enemy squads and lighting signal fires.

Dark Burial made the announcement recently that it would finally be available on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S soon. Along with its launch on the Xbox platforms, Dark Burial will get an Enhanced Edition that will contain 8 new levels, and 1 new boss, along with several improvements to both the visuals and the gameplay. In Dark Burial, the sentinel has the ability to use his crossbow to shoot arrows and use it as a platform. As the dark army draws closer to the land occupied by the sentinels, players must light signal fires to let people know that the dark times are coming. As such, players will have to make their way through a variety of dark and haunted levels to light signal fires, using only their reliable crossbow for support.

Armed with a sturdy crossbow, players will slay skeletons, witches, and other abominations that have dared to emerge from the underworld. The path that lies ahead is filled with traps and hazards in the form of a variety of challenges spread over 18 levels.

The very well-composed and sinister score of Dark Burial helps the game achieve its goal of providing an immersive experience, despite the fact that the environment is rendered in pixel art. To add to the challenge, there are several formidable bosses players will encounter and face against.
