Apex Legends fans enjoyed some more intriguing lore from fan-favorite medic Lifeline in the latest Story From the Outlands, titled “Family Business”.

The latest SFTO didn’t actually premiere for two minutes, but patient fans were treated to an impromptu punk song in advance of the cinematic. It was actually pretty catchy, continuing Apex’s trend of genuinely fun music, which ultimately reappeared during the cinematic.
Family Business breakdown
The story itself begins with Lifeline leaving home, hanging up on her mother Cherrise for having “blood on her hands”. Next, she’s seen in battle for the Frontier Core, rescuing an apparent boyfriend. It’ll be interesting if fans can learn more about that relationship.
Lifeline asks Octane for help breaking into his father’s Silva Industries building for meds, which explains the upcoming heist outfit. The upper half of Octavio’s face is revealed too, as he shows off his own wingsuit.
The two successfully infiltrate the facility, though Lifeline briefly feels guilty and compares herself to her parents after knocking out a couple of guards. D.O.C. helps charge a vehicle for the two to escape, and they use their wingsuits to evade pursuing drones.
Unfortunately, Octane’s father and Cherisse naturally go straight to the hospital that’s treating her friend. Cornered, Lifeline offers to come home again if Cherisse spares the civilians’ lives.
Just before Cherisse can kill them regardless, Octane reveals that the entire room is being livestreamed, forcing the enemies to stand down.
The plot doesn’t reveal much, although the playful attitude and chemistry of Lifeline and Octane rewards fans throughout the cinematic, perfectly balancing an upbeat tone with the seriousness of the backstory. It’s also probable that the upcoming town takeover will have various nods to the heist.
