Apex Legends has just released a brand-new trailer for the upcoming “Spellbound” collection event, which will officially introduce Seer’s leaked Showstoppers heirloom. It’ll have 24 themed cosmetics, and bring the beloved LTM Control Mode back to the game.

The Spellbound event is scheduled to drop on January 10th, 2023. Here’s the full trailer from Apex Legends’ YouTube channel, including cinematics and gameplay with the new mode and cosmetics:

The Spellbound collection event may not offer any real new content, but there are quite a few legendary skins, and they’re generally pretty neat. They’re colorful and vibrant, with interesting lighting effects that really embrace the fantasy influence.

Horizon’s skin even looks like a little nod to Marvel’s Scarlet Witch, though it’s a shame that didn’t go to Catalyst. After all, magic is already her natural theme.

Sadly, many of these collection events have better skins than the Battle Passes. Also, it’s a little unfortunate that some of the most overlooked legends, like Wattson, continue to be snubbed. But there is a nod to Vantage, who strangely seemed to fall by the wayside on arrival. And the smaller reward track cosmetics look decent too.

Seer’s heirloom has mostly received positive feedback since it was leaked a couple of months ago. It’s sleek and boasts interesting details, and the in-game animations look brilliant in today’s trailer.

Although some legends have been waiting much longer for their heirloom, Seer has played too large of a role in the meta for pro players.

It’s always nice to see another LTM, since Battle Royale can be a very inaccessible and redundant genre. But it’d be nice if the devs added new balancing changes or areas for Control, which can easily get out of hand. Spawn killing, limited zones, and other serious issues hold it back from the smoothness and success Winter Express has seen.
