The current Apex Legends season is set to end in February of 2023. While we still have several months left to meet our season and battle pass goals, players have already been given an early glimpse at some of the big changes coming in the next season, including a class system rework and the next legend.
Thordan Smash is at the center of these leaks. The popular Youtuber is known for his accurate leaks of Apex Legends content, making him a reliable source for the information he’s been posting about Season 16. In one of his recent Twitter posts, he talks about some of the big changes to classes coming in the new Apex season.
If these leaks turn out to be true, we can expect a much broader set of classifications for the Apex roster.
Currently, all Apex Legends are classified into one of four classes: Offensive, Defensive, Support, and Recon. While each of these classifications gives you a broad understanding of what an Apex Legend is capable of, it hardly gives an accurate description of that Legend’s strengths and can often be misleading.
According to the leak, in Season 16 all Legends will be split up into classes specifically made for a handful of picks on the current roster. This more specific and diverse set of classifications will help players who are new to a Legend have a better idea of what that character is capable of.
Also leaked is the potential new Legend, Ballistic. Thordan also covers this potential new Legend in his youtube video, which gives an expansive explanation on Ballistic’s origins and what his kit might look like.
Little is known about this Legend, but it is believed to be a mysterious character from the broader Apex lore. This would make him similar to Ash, Fuse, and Mad Maggie, who were all revealed and discussed in the game’s story before becoming champions.
It is unknown if Ballistic will be making an appearance in Season 16. As Thordan explains in his video, the class update might make Season 16 the first season not to feature a new Legend.
