Arc System Works and French Bread have officially announced Under Night In-Birth II Sys:Celes, the newest installment in their fighting game series. This new title in the UNI series will soon be available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. Along with the announcement, a new trailer was released, showcasing some actions and the characters of Under Night In-Birth II Sys:Celes.
Anticipation had been building since May 2023 when reports suggested that Under Night In-Birth II was rated in Korea. While French Bread had previously hinted at the development of a new Under Night In-Birth game back in 2021, the game’s rating in Korea fueled speculations that its release is imminent. The culmination of this excitement arrived with Arc System Works’ official announcement, earlier at EVO 2023 tournament, revealing that Under Night In-Birth II Sys:Celes is slated to launch in 2024.
The Under Night In-Birth game series is iconic for its unique Grind Grid (GRD) system, which introduces an additional layer of fighting strategy. GRD is a tug-of-war mechanic to reward players for defense or offense. With the forthcoming installment, fans eagerly anticipate the introduction of fresh mechanics that promise to elevate the gameplay experience.
Under Night In-Birth 2 is the first in the series to affix a number and boasts completely redesigned visuals. The game will feature the final chapter in the “Hollow Night” storyline, providing an epic conclusion to the original series.
Under Night In-Birth II Sys:Celes will also be the first in the series to include a rollback netcode, allowing for seamless and exhilarating online matches. The game also incorporates new moves and new battle systems to further evolve the battle. Players can also anticipate an elevated level of immersion through the game’s high-octane battles enriched by ultra-high-definition pixel graphics.
Attendees of EVO 2023 are in for an additional treat, as a playable demo of Under Night In-Birth II Sys:Celes awaits them at the Arc System Works booth.
