After nearly a decade, the classic fighting game Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is making a comeback alongside 7 other Marvel-themed titles for Arcade1Up’s next custom Arcade Cabinet. Fans can begin to pre-order the new cabinet on September 8th, 2022, and it should be expected to ship within “a few weeks”.

Here’s the official tweet from Arcade1Up, including a brief teaser for the cabinet, which is gloriously covered in Marvel vs. Capcom 2 imagery:

While the original game is another one of the included titles, Marvel vs. Capcom 2 was truly the height of the series, with a staggering roster of 56 familiar heroes from both universes.

In fact, this expansive roster allowed the game to include both famous characters and even some obscure ones, such as Shuma-Gorath, who people continue to confuse for the villainous beast Gargantos in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness.

The music in Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is timeless thanks to its catchy, retro ideas, and the vibrant art design never really changed for the better. Teams of 3 heroes, which can each be swapped during the battle, provide ample opportunities for players to chain as many hits as possible using outrageous combos and abilities.

This game was definitely the perfect selection for Arcade1Up’s next cabinet, and a little more modern than some cabinets aim for. Consequently, the biggest reveal is that they’ll be adding WiFi to Marvel vs. Capcom 2, allowing fans to play against fighters worldwide.

The other titles in the cabinet will include Marvel vs. Capcom, Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter, X-Men vs Street Fighter, Marvel Super Heroes, X-Men: Children of the ATOM, X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse, and Marvel Super Heroes in War of the Gems.

This announcement is also just in time for those who want another way to celebrate EVO 2022, the longtime fighting game competition that’s including a peek at Street Fighter 6.
