Post-apocalyptic games show humanity what happens if everything goes wrong, and the upcoming MMORPG Ashfall looks to evolve on that. With a blend of modern and classic MMORPG elements, Ashfall looks to give players their first looks when the closed beta goes live next week on Thursday, Aug. 3.

Ashfall developer and publisher NetEase made the announcement via a press release, stating that players can begin to sign up now for the game’s closed beta test for PC and mobile. This closed beta test is specifically geared toward North American audiences, but players from across the world are also encouraged to sign up for the beta when it becomes available locally.

The gameplay in Ashfall will feature players as one of the survivors in an Eastern-inspired post-apocalyptic world that’s been ravaged by rogue AI. There will be a lot of gunplay that looks somewhat similar to New World, although the tone, cosmetics, and monsters revealed look to be something unique to this new title from NetEase.

There is also a robust base customization system, with players able to deck out a bunker and style it to create the most relaxing home in the post-apocalypse. There will likely be plenty of players as crossplay extends between both mobile and PC, which means that the world should be plenty full during the closed beta.

There is currently no release date for Ashfall‘s full release to the public outside of some time in the fourth quarter of 2023. Players can join the Ashfall Discord for the most updated information.
