French game developer Asobo Studio has recently posted multiple job listings that possibly indicate the development of a new installment in the A Plague Tale series. According to a recent announcement on Asobo Studio’s LinkedIn page, the studio is actively seeking professionals, including a VFX Artist, Senior Game Designer, Senior AI Programmer, and Senior Gameplay Animator, specifically for the Plague Team.
The A Plague Tale series, which draws inspiration from acclaimed titles such as The Last of Us and Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, is a narrative-driven action-adventure stealth game series that takes place in a world devastated by the Black Death. Since the release of the first game, it has gained immense praise for its emotionally gripping storyline, stunning graphics, and remarkable stealth mechanics. Receiving overwhelmingly positive reviews along with numerous awards and nominations, the A Plague Tale series has proven to be a commercial success. As such, it comes as no surprise to some that a new A Plague Tale game is on the horizon.
In addition, the possibility of a sequel was further hinted at in the post-credit scene of the latest entry, A Plague Tale: Requiem. After the credits roll, a scene unfolds, revealing the arm of a newborn covered in sheets, accompanied by subtle sounds of a ventilator and footsteps on a hard surface in the background. Eventually, the camera pans to the baby’s upper arm and shows the emergence of the Prima Macula’s distinguishable black veins. The presence of a ventilator strongly suggests a hospital setting, indicating that the sequel might take place in a modern era. This claim may also be supported by the significant time gap of eight centuries between each instance of the Plague of Justinian.
Since the job listings have just been posted, it is possible that the development of a new A Plague Tale game is still in its early stages. However, Asobo Studio has yet to make an official announcement, confirming a new A Plague Tale game in development.
