One of Ubisoft’s highly anticipated projects, Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR, has been finally announced to launch later in 2023 for Meta Quest devices. The title has been a subject of speculation and rumors for years since it was initially announced alongside the now-canceled Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell VR during the Oculus Quest virtual event in 2020.
In an unexpected turn of events, Oculus Quest Producer, Ruth Bram, recently shared an update on Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR at the Meta Quest Gaming Showcase 2023. It has been announced that the game will be available on the Meta Quest Store by the end of the year. A full reveal of Assassin’s Creed Nexus is also expected to be showcased at this year’s Ubisoft Forward event on June 12th, at 10 AM PT.
Previous reports have revealed that Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR is being developed by Ubisoft’s Red Storm Entertainment. Other than that, no other details have been disclosed about this project. During the September 2022 Ubisoft Forward, the publisher discussed the future plans for the Assassin’s Creed franchise, but unfortunately, no official updates regarding Nexus have been mentioned.
In February 2023, an exclusive report by Tom Henderson via Insider Gaming revealed the supposed release date of Assassin’s Creed Nexus and hinted at additional details becoming available upon the game’s official announcement in June. The full reveal of the Nexus has been finally confirmed to be showcased this Summer, proving Insider Gaming’s claim to be true. However, the reliability of the report’s indicated release window remains uncertain.
For now, fans who are looking forward to the release of Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR may add it to their Meta Quest Store wishlist to be notified when it becomes available.
