Kunos Simulazioni, the developer behind the sim racing title Assetto Corsa, has announced the addition of crossplay functionality. This new update will let players on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S to compete against each other online.

As announced on X (formally Twitter), Assetto Corsa is allowing players from PS5 and Xbox Series X|S to play together. Since they specifically mentioned those two platforms, it likely doesn’t extend anywhere else. With crossplay now enabled, players can access a much larger pool of competitors, fostering a more vibrant and dynamic online community.

This allows for greater competition, offering opportunities to test your skills against drivers from different platforms and backgrounds. Additionally, crossplay opens up possibilities for collaborative events and leagues, further uniting the passionate fan base.

For those who haven’t played, Assetto Corsa features detailed physics and tire simulation, replicating the handling and behavior of real-world vehicles. Laser-scanned tracks provide accurate representations of famous circuits, adding to the immersion. The game boasts a wide variety of cars, ranging from classic road models to high-performance race machines. Extensive customization options allow players to personalize their vehicles and racing experience.

The game also has a Career mode with a structured progression system, while single-player and multiplayer modes provide diverse gameplay options. Also, custom championships and race weekends let players create their own events, fostering a competitive environment. Assetto Corsa is mostly liked because of its realistic driving dynamics and modding capabilities. It caters primarily to dedicated sim racers seeking a challenging and immersive experience. However, its steep learning curve and lack of career progression are what tend to scare people off.
