One of the most classic gaming brands is Atari, known for dominating the market in the 1970s and creating some of the most iconic gaming titles, including Lunar Lander. Now, Atari is back at it again, partnering with Dreams Uncorporated to reimagine the series with a new title in the franchise called Lunar Lander: Beyond, built from the ground up and coming in 2024.
This new title is a modern version of the classic game, bringing updated gameplay built from the ground up that’s still reminiscent of the title that fans fell in love with decades ago. In the announcement trailer posted to Twitter earlier today, players get a first look at the concept for the new title as a narrator discusses how the last of humanity is exploring the universe.
In Lunar Lander: Beyond, players will take on the role of a new captain of the Pegasus Corporation. In that role, players will guide their crew through missions to ensure the survival of humanity. Players will have to contest a variety of new threats that have been redesigned using the most up-to-date tools, fully bringing the Lunar Lander series into the 21st century.
Dreams Uncorporated is a Colombian developer who’s created hit titles like the Cris Tales, which was released on June 20, 2021.
In a statement, Atari’s CEO Wade Rosen said, “Dreams Uncorporated has a unique vision that transforms Lunar Lander into a game with a meaningful back story and deep, modern gameplay. We could not be more enthusiastic about the creativity and craftsmanship that they are bringing to such an iconic Atari property.”
