ATONE: Heart of the Elder Tree, an upcoming puzzle adventure game inspired by Norse mythology, has revealed a brand-new trailer featuring new characters and gameplay. ATONE: Heart of the Elder Tree continues to impress with each new trailer. Marketing is ramping up ahead of launch, as the devs just released another trailer last week. However, that trailer featured “The World of ATONE”, and although the hand-drawn art design is truly glorious, the heart of this game appears to be its characters and their struggle.

So, today’s focus on characters was a real highlight. There are several new shots of somber expressions and interactions, and the art style for the mythical Norse characters is uniquely grounded. Where most games would lean into their grandeur, ATONE: Heart of the Elder Tree is more interested in their humanity. Even a brief shot of wild animals is charged with personality.

A brief section of today’s trailer also showed off a variety of decisions players will have to make. Some of them involve basic RPG dialogue, but ideally, it will actually construct different relationships. Many games with “decisions” turn out the same way regardless of the smaller dialogue choices. The trailer does end with a defining moment that puts someone’s life in the player’s hands.

Hopefully, Untold Tales will ease up on the trailers before they reveal too much. At this point, any curious fans are probably fully invested. The combination of artwork, music and storytelling have serious potential to make this a groundbreaking debut for Wildboy Studios.
