Larian Studios recently held Baldur’s Gate III‘s final live show ‘Panel From Hell: Release Showcase’ to provide fans with an in-depth preview of more exciting content that awaits them in the Forgotten Realms. One of the highlights of the showcase is the reveal of Baldur’s Gate III‘s final Origin character.

Spanning over three years in Early Access on PC, Baldur’s Gate III has received numerous updates based on valuable feedback from its community. Finally, the full version of the game will launch for PC on August 3, and on September 6th for PlayStation 5. Along with the full release, Larian Studios has announced the arrival of an exciting addition to the game—the fully customizable Origin character known as The Dark Urge.

In Baldur’s Gate 3, Origin characters serve as playable heroes, each with their own narrative, desires, and attitudes. If players opt not to play as these characters, they can still encounter them as potential companions, who they may or may not recruit throughout their journey. During the Early Access phase, players were introduced to Origin characters such as Shadowheart, Wyll, Gale, Astarion, Lae’zel, and Karlach. Today, Baldur’s Gate III introduces The Dark Urge, a completely customizable Origin character that brings a new dimension to the gameplay experience.

The Dark Urge embodies the darkest depths of the moral spectrum, featuring a striking appearance with alabaster skin and a hulking dragonborn frame as a preset design. As a fully customizable character, players have complete control over The Dark Urge’s class, appearance, species, and gender. This Origin character has an insatiable desire to commit some of the most lurid acts of violence.

Taking the role of the Dark Urge, players begin Baldur’s Gate III with a lost memory after an unfortunate encounter between a parasitic tadpole and The Dark Urge’s brain. What remains is an insatiable urge, manifesting in The Dark Urge’s subconscious, deepest thoughts, and dialogue options. This new addition allows players to explore their own dark side, enabling their subconscious urges to surface through sinister responses and permutations.

Baldur’s Gate III is also in development for Xbox Series X|S, although a release date for this platform is yet to be announced. For eager fans, pre-orders are now open on the PlayStation Store and Steam. Additionally, Baldur’s Gate III Collector’s Edition is available for pre-order exclusively through the Larian Studios online store.
