Larian Studios has released Patch 5 for Baldur’s Gate 3, bringing a host of new content and improvements to the game. The biggest addition is a new epilogue chapter, set six months after the events of the game’s main story. It sees players reunite with their companions and reflect on their journey. The epilogue is tailored to each player’s choices, and it features new cinematics, music, and faces.
For more details, and we’re warning you that there are plenty of spoilers, check out the patch notes or the Steam announcement. We’ll stick to the nonspoiler additions from here on out.
In addition to the new epilogue, Patch 5 also introduces two new game modes: Honour Mode and Custom Mode. Honour Mode is a new game mode that ups the difficulty of the game. This also introduces over 30 new tweaks to all of Baldur’s Gate 3’s boss fights. Players who complete the game in Honour Mode without dying will be awarded the Golden D20 for use in-game.
Custom Mode is a new game mode that allows players to customize their gameplay experience. Players can pick and choose from a variety of options, such as hiding the required roll to succeed dice checks and hiding enemy HP in battle.
Players can now manage the inventory of companions who are not in their active party without having to recruit them first, thanks to improved inventory access.
Some other updates are:
- Baldur’s Gate 3 is now available with Korean-language subtitles.
- Your transformation as a half-illithid now visually affects your eyes.
- Patch 5 includes a dedication in memory of Jim Southworth, who passed away earlier this month.
On top of the improvements mentioned above, there are the regular bug and glitch fixes that come with updates.
