Forspoken is an action-based, role-playing game, which follows the journey of Frey, a New Yorker who has been transported to the stunning, yet torturous, land of Athia, and she has to use her magical powers to cross the land and get back home. While starting off playing Forspoken, you may want to consider the best skills to unlock first, as it can be overwhelming what to choose as you make your way to mid-game.

Best Skills to Unlock First

By the time you’ve worked your way through the entire story in Forspoken, protagonist Frey Holland will be able to choose from over 100 magic spells, but many will are not available until deeper in the game, after the completion of the main story, and/or require purchasing them.

Frey’s skill tree starts out as a single tree and then grows quickly as you make progress through the game’s storyline. We recommend unlocking support magic first, which will give Frey access to support spells that are incredibly useful during early battles, especially as you can use Cuff to help block enemy attacks if you are low or out of stamina.

For Purple Magic, we recommend these support-based spells: Prime, which will set explosive traps, Tendril, which is a swiping attack that will heal you based on the damage it does, and Disperse, which allows flowers to burst from the ground that then throw rocks at enemies.

Hopefully, we helped you with picking some of the best spells to unlock early on in Forspoken! Don’t forget to check out the rest of our Forspoken coverage.
