The launch of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet on Nintendo Switch consoles is near. As fans prepare to step into the Paldea region, one of their concerns is deciding which starter Pokémon would be the best to begin their journey with. Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly will be the three starter Pokémon in the new installment of the Pokémon franchise. Here are all of the relevant pieces of information to help you choose among the three starter Pokémon in Scarlet and Violet!
Best starter Pokémon in Scarlet and Violet

To choose which Pokémon should be your starter in Scarlet and Violet, you must consider the start of your journey in Paldea or early-game gyms. In this case, the best starter Pokémon in Scarlet and Violet would be Fuecoco. It is a Fire-type Pokémon with the Blaze ability, which is typical for Fire-type starters. This ability gives it a boost to its Fire-type attacks when used. Fire-type Pokémon can also be rare and a fire-type Pokémon in your arsenal early on could improve team synergy.
Previous leaks have also reported that the first three Gyms in the game are of the Bug, Grass, and Electric types, which would make Fuecoco the best and safest choice to deal with these early-game Gyms if this information is true. Fuecoco evolves into Crocalor and Skeledirge. Crocalor is the mid-evolution and its final evolution is Skeledirge, a Fire/Ghost-type.

Nonetheless, Sprigatito and Quaxly would also make a decent option, given their mid and final evolutions. Sprigatito is a Grass-type Pokémon with the classic Overgrow ability, which boosts its Grass-type attacks when its HP drops below one-third. It evolves into Meowscarada and Floragato. The mid-evolution of Sprigatito is Floragato, and its final evolution is the Grass/Dark-type Meowscarada.
Quaxly is a Water-type Pokémon with the Torrent ability, which boosts its Water-type attacks when it has low health. Quaxly’s two evolutions are Quaxwell and Quaquaval. Quaxwell is its mid-evolution, while Quaquaval, of Water/Fighting type, is its final evolution.
