The world of Fortnite is set for a major shakeup with the introduction of Ranked Play for both Battle Royale and Zero Build modes in Fortnite v24.40. Alongside this new feature, Epic Games is implementing substantial changes to materials and harvesting.

In the effort to balance gameplay, the new patch will bring about three significant alterations. Firstly, the material cap, which currently stands at 999, will be reduced to 500. This change necessitates more strategic resource management, as players will have fewer materials at their disposal. Secondly, harvesting rates will see a slight increase, a shift aimed at compensating for the lowered material cap. Lastly, upon elimination, players will now drop 50 of each material.

In addition to the forthcoming changes, Fortnite has already implemented several balance adjustments as part of a hotfix on May 3. This includes an increase in the damage dealt by the Lock-On Pistol and Thunder Spears, an enhancement in the Locked-On Pistol’s lock-on speed and fire rate between bursts, and a decrease in the time it takes for Thunder Spears to explode after the fuse is pulled. In a move that affects tournament players, the Forecast Reality Augment has been vaulted.

In terms of bug fixes, v24.40 aims to rectify a series of issues that have affected gameplay. The development team is making strides to address problems related to the large rocks on the Battle Royale Island, which have not been providing as many materials as intended. There’s also a fix in the works for an issue that prevented players from being healed with Slurp Juice after being Down But Not Out (DBNO).

Players who use the Clone Trooper Outfit will notice a couple of improvements. Back Blings equipped with this outfit will no longer appear detached, and the Clone Trooper Outfit’s head movement will no longer be static. Another fix will address an issue that caused some Outfits to appear glossy.
