Blasphemous 2, the highly anticipated action-adventure sequel from The Game Kitchen and publisher Team17, is now available for pre-order. Fans can pre-order on GOG, Steam, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

A new gameplay trailer was also revealed today, featuring more brutal action, inventive bosses, and vast stages. It also showcases the physical copies of the game for Xbox, PlayStation and Switch, but the trailer makes it clear that the artwork is still subject to change.

Blasphemous 2 is slated to launch on August 24th, 2023. You can watch today’s new pre-order trailer on the Team17 YouTube channel:

Blasphemous 2’s trailers continue to reassure fans that they can expect a return of everything that made its predecessor an action platformer classic. The imagery is absolutely stunning, indulging the bizarre with haunting new enemies and worlds.

The artwork on the hard copies is fairly simple, but it looks equally gorgeous, Gothic, and mysterious. So, it would be a shame if it were replaced before release. However, it would be nice if pre-orders included an incentive or two. An elaborate Limited Edition would also be warranted, since the devs were determined to create something so much grander.

According to the Steam page, the story of Blasphemous 2 will pick up “from the free Wounds of Eventide DLC for the original game”. However, it will feature a variety of new mechanics, including a deeper, non-linear world to explore, as well as new weapons and skillset customization.

Blasphemous 2 will let players freely explore, but the high-octane music and attitude in today’s pre-order trailer hints that players shouldn’t be concerned about losing the pace of the original. The new bosses, combos, and executions are as creative as ever, so that all of the carnage doesn’t feel like a cheap gimmick.
