Game developers have always been finding unique ways to tease some details about their upcoming releases, and Bokeh Game Studio is no exception. This Japanese game development studio recently shared a cryptic post on their social media account, featuring an image of Tomie, the iconic femme fatale from the works of renowned Japanese horror manga artist and author, Junji Ito. The post immediately sparked speculation about a potential collaboration between Bokeh Game Studio and the famous horror mangaka.

Bokeh Game Studio was founded by Silent Hill creator Keiichiro Toyama following his departure from Sony Interactive Entertainment in 2020. During The Game Awards 2021, the studio unveiled its debut title, Slitterhead. The teaser trailer offered a glimpse into a spine-chilling world where seemingly ordinary humans transform into grotesque creatures with “slitted” heads, haunting a neon-lit city inspired by Chinese locations.

Interestingly, the cryptic post shared today depicts the head of Tomie, seemingly slit in half. This quickly made fans speculate that Bokeh Game Studio is working with Junji Ito in the development of Slitterhead. Prior to the Tomie post, Bokeh shared a new dev blog, offering a glimpse at some motion capture sessions earlier this year for Slitterhead, though they have remained tight-lipped about further details.

Junji Ito stands as an iconic figure in the world of horror manga, making his venture into horror game development an exciting prospect. While Ito had previously discussed a possible collaboration with Hideo Kojima on a horror project, nothing concrete materialized, leaving fans disappointed. Should the collaboration between Ito and Bokeh Game Studio be confirmed, it would undoubtedly be a momentous event for horror fans to see how this development would come together.
