After the monumental success of Vampire: Survivors, it only makes sense that other games would try to recreate the same simple, yet addicting, arcade-style gameplay. Brotato launched last September into Early Access on Steam, but the developer is ready to announce that it will be releasing its full version today, June 23, 2023.

According to developer Thomas Gervraud, who goes by Blobfish online, he had no idea the level of success his game would see up to this point. Brotato is Blobfish’s third potato-based game and he was beginning to question whether or not he wanted to continue. However, the 96 percent positive reviews on Steam were enough to convince him to keep going.

In the launch video posted above, Blobfish announced that the game would officially be released on June 23, which means players will be able to play as the potato today. The title features a lot of exciting arcade gameplay and the endless swarms of enemies that many players learned to love from Vampire Survivors and the early access version of Brotato.

With Vampire Survivors still very much an active game, it will be interesting to see if Brotato is able to capture the audience in much of the same way. It’s hard to imagine that we could have another title that’s as impactful as Vampire Survivors while also being simple, but gamers are always ready for the next surprise hit to sweep them off their feet.

With such positive reviews before it ever left Early Access, it’s likely that Blobfish won’t have to worry about whether or not he can continue to develop for now.
