Fabledom, a fairy tale city builder from Grenaa Games and Dear Villagers, has released a new gameplay trailer for its Gallantry & Bartering update. The new update rolls out on July 13th, 2023. It will add diplomacy missions, trading, the new ruler Ramone, and more.

Fabledom first launched into Early Access last April, and that version is available now on PC via Steam. You can watch today’s Gallantry & Bartering trailer on the Dear Villagers YouTube channel:

Fabledom is one of the coziest city builders around, and it cleverly weaves in the fairy tale theme in a variety of ways. To that end, Fabledom emphasizes romance, and there are lots of familiar magical creatures that are fun to discover and contend with.

Given that Fabledom has thrived on its streamlined gameplay loop, the addition of diplomacy might be a little surprising. But it is thematic, and it’s a breath of fresh air to have some more flexibility. More updates are on the way with similar changes, including The Elixir of Love and A Wedding in a Chateau. The game is gradually evolving in a natural way, warming players up for a full launch.

Ramone, the Bard Prince, may potentially be the last new neighboring ruler for a little while. Rulers provide the most compelling content with unique quest lines. As fun as new resources and buildings are, Fabledom is most engaging when it introduces more lore and interactions than management.

Still, the new buildings revealed in today’s teaser do look neat. They reinforce the simple life that makes Fabledom’s world so appealing, but also have some flair and details.

According to a new post on Steam, “an interesting article” is going to release tomorrow, delving into the development process of the update.
